I own 4 sets of these MS16 powered speakers. To me, they sound better than their big brother the MS40. I use the MS16′s for: Laptop, Notebook, CD and DVD players, and Keyboards. I will sometimes use these over my Phonic 740 set up to accompany my drumming practice. (Unless it’s a Jam session, and then bigger is always better)

If you are just looking for some small powered speakers for you room or a small space, look into the Eagle Tech ET-AR302-BK’s at .00; the sound is great, and they are about 1/3 the size and cost of the MS16′s.

I would buy more MS16′s if needed, but would not buy another MS40 set. The problem with speakers, is like any other piece of audio equipment; it’s up to the individuals preference and ear.

Oh, by the way, I just bought another EagleTech set just to have them on hand.

I am listening to the speakers as I write this review. For the price, these speakers are a steal. If you are looking for a great pair of computer speakers without spending a fortune for them, then you can not go wrong by buying a pair of these speakers from Amazon.Com.

This cable would be OK for a set of headphones but you should not use it in the signal path between a source device, like an MP3 player or computer, and an amplifier. The shielding is so poor in this cable that it will pickup a considerable amount of 60Hz EMI (aka hum) and you won’t like the results.

I bought this cable to connect my high-end Dell portable computer to the Sony pre-amplifier unit of my home entertainmenet system. I wanted to use my portable as an MP3 player since it’s a lot easier to program and create playlists on a 17″ computer screen than any of the portable MP3 players I’ve seen. When I had everything hooked up I experienced a very noticeable hum from my stereo speakers even before starting the player application on the computer. At first I thought I had a ground loop so I removed all other external cables (power, usb, ethernet) from the computer, running it on battery only. Still the hum persisted. Even with the AUD-1100-25 cable unplugged from the computer the hum persisted.

I then replaced the AUD-1100-25 with a pair of RCA cables w/ RCA to 1/8″ stereo adapters and the hum went away. The RCA cables were hand-made with some quality shielded cable with the connectors hand-soldered by me. What a difference. So, that’s what I ended up using.

Although I think Monster Cables and the like are a way over-priced, this product has gone too far in the other direction. I don’t recommend this item if you’re going to use it in an application that will amplify the signal (and noise) coming through the cable. It’s easy to see why this cable is so cheap.

Finally a car stereo book that is completely illustrated with step by step procedures for all types of projects for cars, vans, and SUVs. I started reading this book with very little knowledge of how to build my own system, but now I feel confident enough to tackle my stereo project before me. Dan Ferguson really hit it on with this book! It’s a must for any beginner car stereo enthusiasts!

I like this book. It has a unique SUBWOOFER BIAMP FILTERED CROSSOVER project (It’s easy to build, works very well) And it has a really cool Jeep CJ box, And you keep the back seat. Nice if your a Dad with little ones. Covers speakers from Madisound, Kicker and MTX. Note front and back speaker projects. Not just Subs. The people from Madisound I found to be very nice too. This BIAMP FILTERED CROSSOVER is not the same one as from his first book. (Killer Car Stereo on a Budget.)
